The Leadership Test You Can’t Afford to Fail

Don’t Win at Work and Lose at Home

Let’s get real.

You can be the most visionary, effective, and inspiring leader in the boardroom… And still be passive, inconsistent, or absent in your own living room.

That’s the tension of leadership—we sometimes give our best energy to those who matter least and our leftover energy to those who matter most.

So here’s the question that’s been wrecking me (in the best way):

How can I be a better leader at home than I am at work?

Here’s what I’m learning:

Stop outsourcing spiritual leadership.

Your kids don’t need a youth pastor more than they need a present parent. Your spouse doesn’t need your sermons—they need your prayers, presence, and attention.

Lead with consistency, not charisma.

At work, we lead by direction. At home, we lead by example. It’s not your inspiration that will raise your kids—it’s your integrity. Small, consistent actions over time build lasting trust.

Create sacred rhythms at home.

Set the tone. Lead prayer before dinner. Read a Bible verse together. Ask heart-level questions. You don’t need to be perfect—just intentional.

Your home is your first leadership mirror.

If the people closest to you don’t feel loved, heard, and safe—then leadership everywhere else is just noise.

We’re not called to choose between leading at work or at home.

We’re called to do both—but with right priorities and eternal perspective.

Let’s stop trying to be heroes in the pulpit and ghosts in the hallway.

Your greatest legacy won’t be your resume. It will be your kids and your spouse saying:

“They showed up. They led with love. And we knew we were their first ministry.”

Will you help a church in need—right when they need it most?

Across the country, pastors are facing crisis moments, leadership transitions, and burnout. Many of them know they need help—but simply don’t have the resources to access the support that could save their church.

That’s why we created the Church Advancement Fund—a donor-powered initiative that allows us to respond immediately when churches call for help. Whether it’s crisis coaching, strategic support, or leadership care, this fund allows Churchelp to step in without hesitation—regardless of their ability to pay.

We have 1 church in the Churchelp Advancement Program… can you help?

Your gift bridges the gap. It turns “we can’t afford help” into “we’re not alone.”

Will you partner with us to keep churches healthy, hopeful, and moving forward?

Every dollar you give is an investment in the future of a local church.
