A Rising Tide of Revival: Hosting the Presence of God
Have you ever felt like your faith has hit a dry spell? Like you're showing up, going through the motions, but the fire and passion you once had for God feels like it’s barely flickering? You’re not alone.
But here’s the good news: God’s not done with you. What feels dry and lifeless can come alive again. Revival is about more than emotional church services or events—it’s about dead things being brought back to life. And here’s the best part: it starts with you.
Revival Starts in You
In 2 Chronicles 7:14, God lays out a clear path to revival:
"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
This isn’t just a nice verse to read—it’s an invitation. Revival isn’t a mystery or a formula, but it does require action:
Humble yourself. Let go of pride and admit your need for God.
Pray. Create space to talk with and listen to Him.
Seek His face. Pursue God like He’s your only answer—because He is.
Turn from old ways. Let go of anything that’s holding you back.
God’s promise? He’ll hear, forgive, and heal. But it starts with a decision to be “all in.”
Jump Into the Deep
Think about your life. Are you standing on the edge, hesitant to dive into everything God has for you? Maybe you’re afraid of what it will cost or worried about losing control.
But God’s not calling you to play it safe—He’s calling you to jump into the deep. In Ezekiel 47, we see this beautiful image of a river flowing from the temple of God. As the prophet walks along the river, the water rises: ankle-deep, knee-deep, waist-deep, until it becomes a river too deep to cross.
That’s what God’s presence is like. The more we yield to Him, the deeper it gets. And here’s the kicker: wherever this river flows, it brings life. It even turns the Dead Sea fresh!
Imagine what could happen if you allowed God’s presence to flow freely through your life. What would change in your heart? Your home? Your community?
Hosting His Presence
Here’s the thing: revival doesn’t stay in the church walls. Hosting God’s presence means carrying it into your everyday life—your work, your family, your neighborhood. You are the temple of the living God, and His Spirit dwells in you.
To host His presence, you need to make space. That might mean adjusting your schedule to prioritize prayer and worship. It might mean stepping out of your comfort zone to pray for someone or share your faith. And it definitely means surrendering your plans and letting God take the lead.
Every revival in history has been marked by prayer. Start small but stay consistent:
Private prayer. Build intimacy with Jesus one-on-one.
Public prayer. Be bold enough to pray for others wherever you are.
Corporate prayer. Gather with others to seek God together.
As you do, you’ll become more aware of God’s presence and more attuned to His voice.
Speak Life to the Dry Bones
Maybe there’s an area in your life that feels like dry bones—relationships, dreams, faith. In Ezekiel 37, God gives a vision of a valley of dry bones coming to life. As the prophet speaks God’s words over them, the bones come together, are covered with flesh, and come alive by the breath of God.
No situation is too far gone for God. But revival requires action. Speak life over your dry bones. Prophesy hope over what seems lost. Trust that God’s Spirit can breathe new life into what feels dead.
The Rising Tide
The water is rising, and God is inviting you to dive in. It starts with a choice to humble yourself, pray, and seek His face. As you do, you’ll experience His presence in new ways—not just in church, but in every area of your life.
Remember, you are the temple of the living God. His Spirit lives in you. You’re not just waiting for revival—you’re carrying it. Wherever His river flows, life follows.
So, here’s the question: will you stay on the edge, or will you jump into the rising tide of revival? The choice is yours. Let’s go all in.
